This year, the Free Hands Academy returns to the campus of the AJU in beautiful Bel-Air California. Temperatures will be in and around 80 degrees or 26 Celsius, perfect weather forrobin sitting inside our air conditioned lounges, your private dorm, or perhaps taking it outside to take in some of Southern California’s most beautiful views.

Starting Thursday, August 18 till Sunday, August 21, the FHA Will be again teaming up with some of North America’s finest Chapman Stick talent to bring you courses and study materials to take your playing to the next level. Be inspired, and maybe even inspire those around you! The FHA encourages new players and actively gigging seasoned players as well as this is THE best time to get together and share what we know and love about music, the Free Hands methodology and the Chapman Stick. Got a Warr guitar? Maybe a U-8 or even a Megatar – all instruments are welcome. We don’t judge and we don’t discriminate, so long as you share a passion for music, there will be plenty to share and learn while you’re here.

This year’s event will feature 2 full days of instruction and performance with the Maestro himself – Emmett Chapman! Emmett will lead smaller groups this year in Improvisation, the third voice and a master class on setup and configuration of the Chapman Stick. On Saturday, we’ll also get a special visit from Stick Enterprises, who will be bringing boatloads of CDs, DVDs, learning materials, accessories and more to the AJU for purchase AND everything is 10% off (no shipping and handling!).

More instructors and subject matter experts will be added to the roster over the next few days and months – please watch our announcements on our Facebook page as we as on the Stickist.com. Regsiter here
